Ilaiyaraaja is one of the world’s most prolific composers - He has composed over 7,000 songs, performed in more than 20,000 concerts and provided film scores for more than 1000 movies. And we’re in luck as he’s coming to KL this March to put on a special four-hour live musical eleganza that narrates Ilaiyarajaa’s almost five-decade-long career in this field at Maestro Illaiyaaja Live in KL.

Organised by veteran concert organiser, Mojo Projects Sdn Bhd, hosted by MITEC (Malaysian International Trade & Exhibition Centre), this performance of the decade is expected to see a crowd of over 7,000 spectators.

Proclaimed as the first Asian composer to score a full symphony with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London, Ilaiyaraaja is credited with fusing western musical subtlety into songs for film music in South India. He has worked on Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada films and his work has gained him the title of all-time greatest film-music director by CNN-IBN.

Ilaiyaraaja's songs are complexed whereby he is storytelling through a tune in such an effortless manner, any listener would be transfixed and fall in love. His music has depth and story, accompanied by the orchestra and costumes giving it a wholesome outlook.

The vitality of his music lives on and will be enjoyed generation after generation. From the flamboyant to the traditional, the songs remain evergreen.

Joining him on this musical extravaganza is SP Balasubrahmanyam (SPB). Reflecting back on the rift between the music geniuses, this concert marks the restoration of friendship since their publicized dispute in 2017. SPB has collaborated with Ilaiyaraaja in over 300 films in Telugu and Tamil in the past. Fans can enjoy the revived synergy for the first time at the Maestro Ilaiyaraaja concert in March.
