Some of you might be thinking as to why I’ve only included 8 music festivals within this list -  unfortunately, Singapore does not have as many festivals as I had originally thought.

That’s not to say that they don’t have epic music festivals, because they really do have some awesome events and artists seem to love playing in Singapore - a match made in heaven.

I will most certainly be attending a few of these in 2019, why not join me? This definitive list is all about quality, not quantity.

Ultra Singapore

2018 Line-up Highlights: DJ Snake, Afrojack, Above and Beyond, Nicky Romero, and Steve Angello

Location: Ultra Park, Singapore

Attendance: 40,000

EDM fans, Ultra Singapore promises to be an intense two-day musical experience, and it will be unlike anything you have experienced - one of Singapore’s largest festivals that you cannot miss.

Since it’s debut in 2015 as part of Ultra Music Festival’s worldwide expansion, it has proved time and time again why it stands out amongst the competition. Annually, inviting world-class talent to play on their main stage. In 2018 Singapore invited Grammy-nominated DJ Snake, Dutch legend Afrojack, and Swedish House Mafia alumni Steve Angello.

Garden Beats Festival

Location: Fort Canning Green, Singapore

Attendance: 30,000+

Garden Beats aims to create a unique festival experience for curious minds to dance all day, feet in the grass and head in the stars. Helping festival-goers to find their inner zen, try different cuisines and make a meaningful green impact - 2018 saw Garden Beats become the first carbon neutral music festival in Singapore.

This year’s line-up will feature UK indie rock group The Kooks as well as focusing on up-and-coming artists ranging from R&B to electronic. A must-attend festival for those who would like to make a meaningful green impact.

Singapore International Jazz Festival

The Singapore International Jazz Festival is back for its sixth year! Three-days, 30 hours of live music by numerous world-renowned artists and for that reason it’s dubbed as one of Asia’s leading jazz festivals. Not to be missed by jazz lovers in Singapore or South East Asia as a whole.

SingJazz does a great job of inviting both superstars and emerging talents - local, regional and international. Past SingJazz Festivals have welcomed Earth Wind & Fire, Jessie J, and the late Natalie Cole.

2018 Line-up Highlights: Local and Regional Artists

Location: Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay, Singapore

An annual 3-day alternative music festival that effectively acts as a launchpad for local talents and plays an instrumental role in the development of these bands.

It’s more than a festival - it’s an opportunity for musicians alike to meet and exchange ideas, and the audience gets to enjoy free live alternative music.

Neon Lights Festival

Location: Fort Canning Park, Fort Gate, Singapore

It’s the Ship! Is back for its 6th year. Described as the festival cruise of your dreams and it does not disappoint. A three-day, two-night international water’s festival cruise with some of the most talented and iconic DJs across the globe.

Majority of your festival experience will take place on the impressive cruise ship and taking in the electric beats of EDM superstars like Darude and Technasia. Followed by the ship docking at a tropical paradise and continuing the party onto the beach - what more could you ask for?

ZoukOut Festival also known as Asia’s largest dusk to dawn dance music festival is heading into its 19th year, ZoukOut will once again be bringing Asia’s best nightclub to the great outdoors for one of most anticipated dance parties in 2019.

St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival

St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival is all about finding new and fresh talent and bringing it to unique surroundings and putting on one hell of a show for music lovers.

Having finally decided to expand to Singapore in 2011 the organizers have not looked back and have made great strides bar this year where the Laneway Singapore was cancelled due to logistical reasoning. However, we fully expect them to return in 2020 with another star-studded lineup.

Honorable Mentions:

The following events aren’t quite the full festival experience however they all share similar a DNA and an ethos that you could argue makes up a festival. I would still highly recommend making your way down to Singapore to attend these lively events.
